Title: otdoor girl tomatoes
Post by: ber77tie on July 01, 2012, 15:44:27
I have been given some outdoor girl tomatoes and wondered if anybody has grown them. They seem to have a strange growth habit.Do I need to pinch out the side shoots. All help gratefully received!

I never pinch sideshoots if I'm growing them outside, as the short fruiting seaon means that every truss is needed. If you're growing them indoors, I don't know the answer.

I always thought this variety was a bush type well suited to be grown outdoors (as the name suggests), but apparently it is indeterminate and best grown as a cordon.......I grew some in a block through netting one year so they supported themselves, didn't pinch out at all, just left them to it and got a good crop.... ;D
