One of my relatives family was in Ireland working near a restaurant where they pride themselves on growing their own veg. He saw in the restaurant garden what looked like a spring onion and grabbed some of the top and ate it. An hour later his mouth and lips swelled up and he was none too well. He was told later that the bulb/root of this plant is edible but the leaf toxic!
Any idea what it could be???
Not one I can place... :-\
I know some people are sensitive to onions... get blisters in the mouth and so on, but that's not the issue here. Many plants are edible in one part but not the other... like potatoes. ???
Nothing springs to mind :-\
Act of God for helping himself to someone else's veg :D
Maybe the plants had been sprayed with an incesticide or something similar.
Did the restaurant claim that they were organic?
Other than that what else did he eat - presuming he does not have alergies
Bill
Are these incesticides used to stop pollination within plants of the same family ?
Doh!
memo to self - use the spell checker!!!! ;)
