Post by: eastybeasty1 on June 07, 2012, 21:26:56
just looking for somr advice. i got a wee hawthorn from morrisons and planted it into the garden. it gets sun most of the day and it was planted into fairly well drained soil.

trouble is it wilted more or less as soon as it went into the ground and looks dead now! it didnt cost much which is maybe a clue....but help! new to all this stuff. should i have hardened it off? should i never have bought such a plant from morrisons? any info would be great! :)

Sounds obvious I know but did you give it any water?  I usually water the night before I plant something and then about an hour before it goes in then water daily until I see some sign of growth. Mind you nothing needs watering with this rain!!!!

OH is a bit non-green fingered. I pointed her here and said nice people will help. She is responsible for any pretty flowers and I do food. But  ::)

It wasn't hawthorn, it's honeysuckle, bought from morrisions. It was watered in then just KO'd overnight.

I was hoping someone might know something about homeysuckle (not Haw  ;D)

Forced in a greenhouse, plonked in a shop, then out in the ground with our current weather........I would totally sulk Gordon  ::)

Ask non-greenfingered Mrs Mull to make sure it doesn't dry out, (not a problem with the weather at the mo') and it should rally round, and don't forget to feed it :)
