There are some super folks here, the backbone of the forum for sure, but I keep looking for long time posters who are no longer here..I kinds miss Trixie, Caroline..oh gosh I could reel off reams.. I wonder how they are doing.
I guess the forum is a bit like a family and we get to thinking about the ones we haven't seen for a while

I think with the death of the chat room people are not drawn to socialise here like they used to :(
What happened to the chat room?

Nothing happened but from waht I har it used to be popular and isn't anymore. That was before I was a member I think so I do not know why?
There was only ever a limited group of people in the chat room. Maybe 10-20 at best. But it was a fun place to be and a little bit crazy. I don't think Trixiebelle or Caroline were ever there.
I think it's just that life moves on and people have other priorities. Get the emails of the people you want to stay in touch with. They're less likely to change.
we used to have some great shed parties too :-) Ahhhhhh me fire men, how I miss em ;-)
I find the shed extremely frustrating. There is a time lag between posts as people type and sometimes there seem to be several conversations going on at the same time.
And yes there are some people I miss. Maybe they will come back sometime.
I'm back.....but I don't do chat room though, as I don't type(one finger ) very fast,by the time I've typed my reply then spell checked it the conversation as moved as moved on :-[
I presume you don't mean me, Jeannine- I'm still here! ;D
Caroline
I have only been there twice in 6years and one of those times was to have a private chat with someone. I don't stay on my pc after 7pm and that was when the chat got going.
Still here, but nothing much to add these days. Keep looking in on the Chat but the room is always empty.
You won't be hearing much from Saddad for a bit either, computer problems..... :-\ ::)
Give him our love Deb
i left because of bullying if a certain person popped in i left and then i got busy i guess that happened with other people
is there not a way to block or ban people from the chat room if they have been abusive or bullying?
I only went in once and the atmosphere went decidely cold so I presumed I was not welcome so never bothered again.
Maybe we can try it again. Ninny mentioned it last week but no one was there.
Caroline, no it wasn't you I was thinking of sweetie, I know you are here, I would miss you if you vamished.
I have noticed there doesn't seem to be the same atmosphere on the forum that there was a few years ago, not so much fun stuff. Everyone is still very supportive and caring though and that is very important.
Maybe we need another round robin seed parcel but with a fun twist to it, I can do that, but if we just did it with clues. It was a lot of fun. What do others think.

I miss Trixie and Lish, too. I know Lish visits sometimes , Emaggie too, we used to have some good laughs, remember the chocolate trials Lish organised, and Trixie's funny stories ;D
Oh yes, I was just thinking of the chokalik..it was so funny. Trixies story about her relations at Christmas was priceless too.

If my old memory serves me right, it used to be called "The Lounge" many moons ago.
When I first joined A4A it took me ages to summon up the courage to press the 'chat' button. Total confusion went on as I couldn't get back to looking at the posts on the main site and I pressed the red 'get me out of here' button :o
Way back in those days I didn't quite understand I could open two windows to be able to look at both the forum and chat. So once I had the confidence to go back in again, there was good gardening and general chat - an instant answer to a problem. One or more used to post music (Curry ,TimK, Tinker and Tonybloke) whilst nattering, a link you either ignored or enjoyed. I tried to get folk nattering during the day, during my lunch hour at work, but it seemed to more of an evening thing.
There were people from around the globe, it's where I met so many folk I still keep in touch with.
It was hard keeping up, initially, with all the nattering, but I learned to type faster ;D
Yes, I did have a hissy fit when someone upset me once, similar to Cam's experience, and thought 'that's it never again'. Gardening and love for gardening overode it and I had to remember that the written word can always be misconstrued :(
The Chat Shed is open all day long and that's how I think it should be used, coffee, tea and cocoa time :)
Ninny
I'm trying new connection solutions today.... halfway there, Internet but not wireless yet... :-X
Id like nothing more than to squeeze in a corner and watch a plotty teach in,im not a lurker by trade but when you have such little background in plotting as Jude and I do its difficult to participate without asking questions 10 a penny and soon regulars will think you are take and no give.
I do moderate on 2 fishing websites and the constant rattling of me in the corner of the lounge speaking to mates does grind on Jude if shes into a prog, although I do have a rubber keyboard its like typing on a packet of jelly.
I will pop in now and say Hi......christ knows what I can contribute but I will say Hi to one or two folks who have been kind enough to PM me whilst I have been going though "tuff times" recently....anyway....Nuffo that !!!!
Please be kind when I stick me head through the door..... :-*
Gazza
I've only ventured into the chat a few times, a bit scary and all a bit speedy for my typing it's hard to keep up, but it is quite fun :) I did venture in recently to have a bit of a dust and fill up the tea and coffee jars etc. Whilst I was there Ninny and Mimi dropped in ;D
Tried to go there once or twice, but never quite sure what to do. A bit like having joined Twitter, but never tweeted and properly panicked when I got an email that I have a follower - HELP!
Gazza, what do you mean - all take and no give? How about your fabulous recipes and pictorial instructions? We had several good ideas from that to enrich our family meals. What to do with the garden produce we grow is a very important part of it all and you are very good at that. Your photos are super and the introductory lottie ones still make me laugh. (has Jude forgiven you?)
If I can work out what to do and overcome my bit of feeling shy and awkward, I am going to join in.

...and I second that.. ;D

Yes - report it to the mods and action will be taken. People have been banned on that basis in the past if the bullying etc can be proved.
There was a bit of an issue amd when one particular person entered the chat room everyone left. I think that the same person had more than one log in name and ended up having a chat with themselves. Very bizarre.
It is a pity if new people feel they are asking too many questions. I enjoy the questions and I enjoy the answers. There is always something more to learn.
Wonder why this page has gone so wide?
Anyway I went and sat in the Chat room while I had my lunch and no-one came in.
Sorry I didn't see you in there or I would have come and said hello :)
Decided to go and put the kettle on in there, seems like a quite spot ;D
I used to love chat but I got frustrated whn having a chat to someone and they
went off obviously doing something else and you sat waiting for an answer like a twit. ::)
Had a lot of fun though and sad that some people had a bad time.
Time is not easy to find these days but maybe we could do a Friday night chat around 8?
