We have just found a hole in the bottom of our tank. Is there any way we can repair it?
I tried with some car repair stuff from Halfords. It was a mesh and glue/gell you put over the mesh. I am not much good a DIY so perhaps you may succeed.
It depends on the hole size... I use a silicone sealer that builders use for windows and door installations.. You can get it at the pound shops cheaper than in town.. if its small I use it direct and splodge it all around. it it is big I get other plastic and do it like a patch.. make sure its clean and dry.. Always put the patch or do the repair on the inside..
We had a split on ours and mended it with a piece of plastic over the hole and used araldite to stick it. Water butt is now full of water and no leaks :D

Thank you for the ideas. Will not be able to do on the inside as OH bought the biggest tank he could find.
A bit of mesh from a car repair place stuck on with car repair paste should do the trick.
Lisa....was the patch inside or out? I haven't tried that idea. I have a split/cut I tried some special stuff to fix holes like a plastic putty you mixed two types and it hardens. It worked for a few months then fell off.
It really need to be a flexible sealer like silicone to cope with expansion and contraction - from ice and heat..
