Title: Supporting apple tree branches
Post by: davholla on May 31, 2012, 21:15:17
I have 2 M26 apple trees which are 5 years old and bush shape.  Some of the branches are quite long for my small garden.  Can I support them in some way so they start going upwards as opposed to side wards?

You could tie them in a similar manner as you would when growing  as an espalier, but as opposed to growing them in a horizontal fashion!  you could tie the in a " Y " formation, at least this way you control where the branches grow not the tree!
