Title: Shading
Post by: strawberry1 on May 22, 2012, 11:48:38
When and what do you shade?

I have a very very sunny back garden which is tired up to the surrounding field 10 feet above, so a super duper sun trap. This year I placed the pvc houses with the doors facing the sun and that is working well ie not getting so steamy hot as I roll all the doors up. I also have shading fabric for each house (ebay with eyelets) and I throw them over the tops if needed.

How much sun can tomato plants actually take? I was scratching around for shading last year but I now have more than enough for several different areas, ready for when the sun is highest

I have never had shading on my greenhouse, but I keep all doors (one) and windows (3) open to keep the air circulating and stop stagnation.

Cheers,    Tony.
