Title: Earthing up potatoes
Post by: bluecar on May 21, 2012, 20:57:49
Hello All.

I'm in the envious position of having two year old well rotted cow manure to use. I don't need to bury it as I've completed those areas which I felt needed to be done for this season..

Whilst I did do a potato trench which I lined with this manure. I was thinking of earthing up with it. I have completed one earthing up. What are your views?

Regards

Bluecar

If you have already lined the trench then I would earth up with manure just to use it.  There will be plenty of feed in the trench.  Maybe top dress in 4-6 weeks with a light layer if you wish.  Personally I never feed my spuds once planted in the trench lined with manure.
