The window, because through it I can see the garden!

It's a diificult choice, this one.  I think I'm going to go for "best hand tool" and "best electrical gadget".

Best hand tool - vegetable chopper.  http://www.marksandspencer.com/Marks-and-Spencer-Stainless-Chopper/dp/B002F76RJ4 (http://www.marksandspencer.com/Marks-and-Spencer-Stainless-Chopper/dp/B002F76RJ4).  I use this almost every day for onions and garlic.

Best electrical - my beloved Gaggia Classic espresso machine.

The best is having my family at the table eating together and then friends added too.

As for gadgets, it depends on what I'm doing.  The cooker, pantry and fridge are indispensible as are my knives and, depending on the recipe, the food processor, whisk or blender and all the pots and pans I need plus the dishwasher to clean it all.

Coffee, coffee pot and therefore stove as well. I love the first cup of coffee in the morning.

Obviously running water is pretty fantastic, though I could do without a fridge I think they're a waste of electricity, running 24 hours a day, even in winter when we pay to heat the house and then pay more to cool the food   ;D
OH wants an even bigger fridge, so I'm just keeping my thoughts to myself!

I do without a kettle (but have a coffee pot) but couldn't manage without a fridge, even in winter.

Water, yes - after 3 years in India with NO running water......

No Dishwasher, but we DO fill our Larder. And I couldn't live without my SKK pans.

My small Chinese gas wok burner, If all else was taken away including the electricity I could cope with anything including baklng  in a box on the top as long as I could get the gas bottles.

I would be sad without paper towels too as I use them to blot sauces, gravies  etc.

Oh, yes!!  Paper towels --

At meals (serviettes!), wiping greasy dishes, jar necks, laying cooking utensils on, draining oily foods, covering foods temporarily, mopping - yes, noses, paint brushes, germinating seeds, drying herbs..................
