Title: Triamble squash
Post by: goodlife on May 10, 2012, 09:01:20
I was just wondering...
In my squash books photos..all triambles are clearly divided into three lobed sections..almost like three leaf clover.
But looking at my seed packet photo..the individual lobes are ribbed as well so that the sectioning is not as clear anymore. I never thought anything about it..until somebody else mentioned to me that they haven't seen these 'clear' triambles around for a while now.
So...anybody...Jeannine?....do you grow these 'clearly' divided triambles?...is the flesh any different...or is it just look thing?...is it breeding issue?...growing conditions?

???

Grew them two years ago and both the fruits I got were three-lobed and smooth, bigger than I needed but quite tasty....

They are all ribbed to some extent, some on the same plant can have deeper ribs than others, some are barely noticeable at all  and the fruit looks  smooth. It is usual for Triamble.

Super squash,I love the thin skin which maked them much easier to get into compared to many winter squash

Truthfully, I can't remember.Sorry about that. It might come to me but I can't find it in any notes so far. I think I grew it sevaral years ago for my son who liked seeds and I think it was a seedy one. Probably not so swift as an eater or I would have grown it regularly I would think but I am only guessing.

PS Did you get the seeds from me?

Thanks for that info Jeannine..
I assume with that last post with edible seed you meant about the North Faulkland Island squash.
In which case I shall leave them for next year...too many goodies to grow and not enough space for all of them.. ::) Well..normally I would..but I've gone 'bonkers' with potatoes and 'sweetcorn' this year...I blame Jayb for it.. ;D..if all 'her' painted mountain corn seeds germinate..there must be about 120 plants.. ;D ;D
