Title: Sweet potato beauregard
Post by: cestrian on May 07, 2012, 22:00:22
My lovely wife has just brought two sweet potato plants home from the nursery today. The variety is beauregard.

I've never grown these before! Does anyone have any advice or tips on growing sweet potatoes.

My main questions are - Do they have to go in the green house or can they be planted outside? and how much room do they take up?

I've aways had more success when I've grown them in a greenhouse.... They can be helped to climb to reduce the space needed..  :)

In a hot summer ok outside, but outside they need cloche to protect so can get off to good start.
I grow on in GH then plant outside late May.
Never done really well as weather been poor every year! with two plants I would try in GH.
