Title: Dahlia dismemberment
Post by: Robert_Brenchley on May 07, 2012, 17:10:58
I've been given a large dahlia tuber - still in its pot - and told to cut it up to propagate it. I've never done this, so is there anything to watch out for apart from the obvious need for a shoot an every piece>

Hi Robert, I have always bought mine into leaf and taken cuttings that way, I always try and take a piece of the parent tuber if possible, they root better this way for me. Have taken far too many this year, and must have about 40 dahlias now....opps!
They grow at an incredible speed, and will flower this year.
You may find this useful, if your eyes can adjust to the colours!

Good Luck :-)

Hope this helps
