hi been given a plum tree is it to late to plant out ?

What are you going to do with it if someone says "It's too late"  :o     ?

I agree with Tony.

If it survives you gain, if it fails you haven't really lost anything.

Agree - should be fine just keep well watered first couple of years.

Just a little add on from Alex 133,  what he means when he said "Well watered" he (I'm sure) means watered well.  More plants die from overwatering than underwatering.   Chewers,    Tony.

Give it a bucket of water, every day, all season. It should be OK.

Re the watering, it's just that I have lost a couple of young fruit trees due to too little water. One was a 2 year old damson earlier this year in that, seems a dream now, hot, dry spell we had - flowered, buds forming nicely and then kicked the bucket.
