Title: Bread orgasm
Post by: antipodes on May 03, 2012, 08:40:08
I love Dan Lepard's recipes that appear in the Guardian, his cakes are to die for. But I stumbled on this and HAD to share it with you. I think that this could be the bread equivalent of sex  :P   :P

It is terribly long, as a bread making process goes, but he does often make a "sponge" before the final bread dough. He did this in a stout bread recipe that I tried - make half the dough the night before with the yeast then add the rest of the flour to this sloppy yeasty mix the next day. The result was fantastic and I will try it again.
This recipe for garlic bread looks SO scrumptious but I am a bit worried about all the steps. No doubt leaving one out will mean that the bread won't be as nice!
ENJOY!
(PS bet gazza can't resist the temptation to try it!)

MMMM..sounds nice!
That is almost what I've just done..but with sourdough starter instead of yeast and with olives and herbs instead of garlic...almost.. ::)

I'm definately going to do with garlic once the new crop is ready.

AP...I can tell you already, that is no 'bread' equivalent...its better..!!.. ;) ;D ;D

No it's Toblerone, well according to my daughter. A heavily pregnant daughter arrived & she saw her birthday pressies wrapped up & you can't really disguise a giant Toblerone can you ;D. Her words were 'If that's mine I think I'm going to have a n orgasm.' ;).

Ok,so you hooked me with the Orgasm Bait but after reading the detail, it is, ive no doubt, a very tasty bread, but im not sure if the process could keep me dialed in to make such a long winded bit of buppy.

Looks bluddy lovely though, must be said.

M&S used to sell a tear and share bread full of Fried onion and oven cooked garlic bulbs that was to die for and your post has me reaching to find the recipe.

Gazza, I agree, so much faffing around, wondered if you could leave out some steps and get a good result anyway??  ??? our foccacia is to die for, I must make that once the summer veg have grown!!  Yes Dan Lepard is some kind of cookery deity I think (hey I guess you can have a domestic god as well as a goddess!  ;D
His cakes are sooooo good, there is a stout chocolate cake he makes that is just heavenly, at least it was when humbly made by yours truly.
