Hi folks
Don't know if this should go in the bargains section or here.
Maplin have 60% off on their electric fly swatters, now £4.99. Why in the pests and diseases section - I have modified mine by removing the safety grille. Now I will cut a swathe of terror through the cabbage-white population Mwahahahaha!
Hmm, wonder if it works on slugs too?
I'm off to find out!!!
Cheers
Gordon
;D You evil thing you... ;)
If it's the "tennis racquet" type thing it zaps people too!
;D Oh yes I am...well they do say variety is the spice of life. I'm bored with my usual slug killing/removal methods. Though the hoe-punt remains highly satisfactory. Sad to say the electric swat does naff all to slugs. Deeply dissapointed and may have to modify further to take a car battery. It DOES knock down cabbage whites rather effectively, however!!! Very pleasing "zap" noise. :D :D :D
Yeah it's the tennis racquet type. Mrs K is out in Edinburgh tonight but she might get a surprise when she comes back in as I introduce her to the new "Wife Behaviour Modifier". Comes with built in "fetch me beer or get dzzzzzzsd" feature. (In reality, I'd probably end up with it shoved somewhere I really don't want it lol).
Now, and I'm going to have to admit this, It does say on BOTH sides of the handle "Do not touch grill". It was an open invitation, repeated. I mean, really. They should have put "in all circumstances touch grill", then I might not have had my right arm spasm and jerk away from it. I'm impressed though, it's got about the same kick as an electric fence.
;D ;D ;D Im so grateful that you tested this, in the name of science of course, I am giggling imagining someone testing out the zap.......thanks Gordon......Im still giggling ;D ;D ;D

Not at all. We have three of them......one upstairs, one downstairs and one in the caravan. I live in the country and get a lot of flies in the house.
I wouldn't be without my zappers but must admit I have never used them on cabbage white butterflies....yet.
I kept mine behind the bar - we had a lot of fun one year playing wasp tennis.
I'm glad that my sheer stupidity can bring happiness to others, Star ;D
Definitely a great piece of kit. I can safely say i've been enjoying it very much. Was out looking for cutworms just earlier in a moment of inspiration. Wanted to try to see if I could do keep-me-ups with them.
