Looks as though my rhubarb plants are beginning to flower in the centre. Not seen this happen before. Looks weird. Any ideas with the problem?

It's not a problem; it just shows they're healthy plants. Mine do it every year. Pull the flowering stems out as soon as you see them, so the plant puts its energy into producing leaves not seed.
