Other night I covered my plants in GH with fleece and news paper..wrigged few candles to burn in large cast iron pan (works like radiator when it warms up) and in the morning when I went to uncover my plants..the window was open.. ::) Forgot to shut it for the night..
Luckily it was still warm enough and didn't get any frost losses.
So far so good....but lack of space is becoming a issue..lot of plants are getting ready for going out and it is so cold.. >:(

'Borrowed' some cling film from work wide and thick and lots of it once the hailstones stop i am going out and am going to wrap my mini greenhouse and am going to make a cover over the back table by folding the chairs up against the sides of the table and then making a cling film roof :)

Up to now i have just covered in plastic but its got heavy with rain and crushed one or 2 pots

One year I covered my mini greenhouse with an old double duvet I was about to throw out. It did the job

My 6 foot by 3 foot heated bed has a sort of big cloche/giant tunnel thing over it I got from local GC (Wyevales as was) last year. Always seems toasty in the morning inside though of course very humid...saves me from bringin lots of plants into kitchen though, I just close the lidsup in the evening adn open in the morning, watering is via capilliary mat...

I can see the frost on the cars this morning,  :-X just one tomato plant in the cold green house at risk, will see later if it has survived.

looks like i might have lost one of my giant fuchsias all the leaves have fallen off.

Going to move them all under cover tonight and see if that helps.

We have 3 days of heavy rain, strong winds and night frosts due so am moving things back under wraps for a few days :)

Outside temp went down to  -1.4 last night, but the one tomato plant in the cold greenhouse was fine, looks like I can start moving stuff off my windows sills.

Hard hard frost this morning in my part of Essex.  Hubby had to chisel the ice from the cars at 7am.  Bbbrrr.  Glad I earthed up my Kestrel spuds at the weekend.  Don't hold out much hope for the plot holder who planted a batch of tomato plants in the open at the weekend.

It's far too early for outdoor toms.

All my frost tender plants (in trays & pots) are out in the greenhouse by day and in the conservatory every night. Not taking any chances or having them put back by night time chill.
