Title: Grass cuttings to deter carrot fly
Post by: petefj on April 11, 2012, 08:34:31
I came across a suggestion on the Web that covering carrots with grass cuttings will deter the dreaded carrot fly.

Has anyone on this forum tried this, and does it work?  If it did it would be a brilliant solution, as grass cuttings are always available.

Sounds different, I'd be worried about slugs  :)

I have tried coffee grounds and think that they improve the situation.  Slugs do not seem to like them much either.
