Title: Typical bank holiday washout weather
Post by: PeterVV on April 09, 2012, 17:48:25
Now dont get me wrong, I know we need the wet stuff, but I still have two thirds of an overgrown plot to lick into shape, and the ground was nice and dry and fairly easy to yank stuff out of yesterday, but today???, pointless, or mad to go down there. So stayed at home, sewed some seeds, and potted about a bit. Hope my spuds are enjoying the wet stuff....

Yep.... as per usual, it hasn't stopped raining since the hosepipe ban came in.... thankfully I'd finished a lot of my digging before it started, maybe get a load of stuff out from the GH next weekend....

I took advantage of the rain and popped some seeds in whilst the soil was wet.  Was just working up to having clay platform boots then remembered two lovely planks I had found and saved for just such an eventuality.  Bit slippy but saved sinking in the clay  ;)

Rain is in for the week where I live in Teeside according to the BBC weather webpage.  Not fussed though as I have nothing else to direct sow or transplant this week

Yep, chucked it down.. an absolute joy after being so dry. ;D ;D I planted out red cabbage seedlings, pumbed water from one place to another and had a wonderful time even if the weeds did stick a bit. Tomorrow might have to get back to washing clothes etc but the butts are full, the onions I grew from seed are now upright and everything is sparkling and has grown inches in 24hours.. ;D ;D

Yep at last rain here too, but more today when we are back at work (yippee!). Got time to sow a few more leeks, plant out some lettuce and chinese cabbage and plant a redcurrant I was given. The onions and potatoes are putting on new growth so this water will do them the world of good.
And I am off on hols on Saturday so it is bound to rain again then  ::)  ::)
