Title: Lady Christl
Post by: Wicker on February 20, 2005, 13:46:03
Slight hiccup in supply of order of seed pots from Allotment Society has meant that we have got first early Lady Christl instead of Marfona (second early).  Don't mind at all as we have never grown Lady C and it gets good reports but has anyone grown it is the flavour as good as the reports?

I grew Lady Christl two years ago, my results were nothing to get excited about. The key parameter for me is flavour. Last year I grew Duke of York and Charlotte for summer use and was far more satisfied, particularly with the Charlotte.

However, remember that growing potatoes is an extremely individual experience, so please don't make a decision based purely on my comments  :)

Thanks fir the input, Derek.   Decision has been made for us as we have accepted the Lady Christl!  We already have Charlotte chitting away - one of our favourites.

Lady C is currently in an eggbox on top of my computer speaker along with Rocket chitting nicely. Might stick em in pots..

My 2nd year of Lady C, had good results getting her out early under a polythene tunnel cloche. :o  We thought the flavour, yield and size were great! Going to be doing the same again this year!

I agree with all the positive comments above and it's quite pretty (if you like that sort of thing) - ok for the local show
