Title: Semster Potatoes
Post by: carosanto on April 01, 2012, 18:44:40
Hi folks, went to the Boconnoc Flower Show at the w/e....could have spent £millions!  Bought some Semster seed potatoes which are a French variety.  Has anyone ever grown them, and what are they best for.  Ditto Casablanca potatoes, would love to know more about these too.

Thanks for any help - Carosanto

I think you mean "Stemster"... they're a red early main with cream-yellow flesh... Casablanca is a white first early... never grown them myself.... although they might be popular in France they're both from Scottish breeders (true of a ridiculous number of potatoes in fact).... I guess Casablanca would be popular in France as you could sew slices of it together to make an emergency white flag :D
