Yesterday I fell while carrying a tray of tomato seedlings. A tray with jiffies in, 12 rows with 8 plants in each row, no markers as I drew a map!!!.Now I have 96 unidentified plants. Oh and an egg on my head.
Now what do I do? These were for the lottie sales.

^^ Then just make your best guess about identities and carry on.
Honestly, by the time people get them home and plant them, nobody remembers which were which, especially with the heritage varieties, who knows what they look like anyway?
Bluff and if called, pretend you are deaf and/or having a senior moment.
(hope you were OK)
Jeannine, falling over :o i do hope you are alright did you do any harm? poor you. Perhaps you could do a lucky dip it may help then you will not get any complaints. ;D
Take care now
Rosebud xxx.
Hope you are all right now Jeannine after your fall.
I would just put the tomatoes in the lottie sales as mixed tomato plants. ;D
I am just fine..but talk about a series of events..this is today, mammogram followed by hip x ray, followed by chest x ray followed by blood work. We decided to eat out , a rarity for us and the meat was tough, then on the way home we got a flat tyre, imagine getting a flat in the middle of the busiest highway junction you can think of, we did it, John stopped, I screamed keep going and get through the lights, he did and we immediately got level with the entrance to the bus terminal, no entry if course and buses driving round us like a racing circuit, but we had no choice..however a sweet young man came running to help us , then the depot inspector put a bus behind us to make us safe and then actually helped the young man change the tyre. The sweet young man ran off with a wave to catch his bus and refused the gift we tried to give him and the inspector drove behind us so we got out safely.
Oh and the restaraunt gave us a $50 gift voucher cos the meal was not perfect. So a few warm fuzzy moments.
I can't wait for tomorrow..

Glad it all ended ok but you must feel pretty washed up. About the seedlings perhaps you can identify some by their colour/foliage? Otherwise make a list of possibilities for each pot and let people choose lucky dip style. As long as they aren't broken you've probably come out on top... ;)
I hope your tests are OK. I'm blogging this early as I wait for the hosp. car as I'm getting my back jabs today at last. Hopefully I shall be a new woman next week ::)Hope the sale goes well- and keep marking plants-senior moments are a drag ;D ;D
What a day, I'm glad there were some highs for you both :)
I agree with previous posts, mixed tomato plants, you could even run a spot the variety competition!
Hope you are OK now Jeannine, take it easy there....
Oh I agree with the others, I call them "Surprise" tomatoes when I don't know what they are ;D ;D
Mostly people are just pleased to have heritage varieties so they can save seed, I am sure no one will mind much. They can always identify them from the fruit later on!!!
Make a "Luck Dip" sign for the sale table.. could be good for your sales!! good luck.
I know how you feel, I'd just finished potting on all my specials yesterday and the shelf went. I know the potato leafed ones but I'll have to guess the rest :-\
Oh no. I am so sorry, isn't it just maddening.
Yep Lucky dip ss good, but having given it some thought realised I wouldn't want anyone to save seeds from unnamed tomatoes so will probably donate them to the old wrinklies in my bulding as I did last year, they don't save seeds so no danger there.
They will like them, it was good to see all my tomatoes growing on balconiea around me last year.

I did save a lot of seed on my holidays last year, all those wonderful southern France tomatoes, picked up at the local markets, grown by little old blokes that save their seed year after year. It means that my tray today has lots of nice "Sungolds" and "San Marzano" but next to them are a whole load of "Large Red Ribbed", "Funny Red Yellow Stripe" and "Fat Green" ;D ;D ;D
I don't mind, as long as they taste good!
