Spend a day separating miserable tiny things from soil, then hurl them into the nearest dustbin with appropriate execrations.

Sorry to buck the trend, but these are gorgeous. Mine are up in pots in the greenhouse and only about an 2" tall at the moment. When frost is past they will be outside, but as my soil is heavy I grow them in large pots - in fact 3 plants to a pot. I plant them low in the pot so that I can earth them up as they grow as they apparently respond well to this. The pots have reasonably light friable soil so that when I harvest, in the Autumn, usually after the frost has killed the plant, the little tubers are easy to find. I immediately wash them (this is important), rather than letting dirt dry on the tuber, and then rinse in the kitchen before stir frying. They are crisp and sweet with a slightly nutty flavour. Nice raw too,

If I try them again, it'll be in a container. If I use compost, and top up annually with grass cuttings, it should be easy to separate them from that. I wouldn't dispute the taste, it's just that they're so fiddly to get out of the soil.
