I had a nice surprise when I checked my rhubarb yesterday - it looks like it will be ready for picking in another week.

My rhubarb is coming up well won't be long now.

I have tried covering one of my crowns with a green cone (it was a gift from Njord) but I don't think it was dark enough, well I will see, as they say the proof in in the pudding, or the crumble.

Put a cardboard box over one crown a couple of weeks ago and harvested some lovely stems on Thursday. Now there's loads emerging and very soon there'll be jam and pickle beeing made as well as fool, crumble, pie etc.

I picked 5 stems yesterday and it was lovely lightly cooked in a bit of water. Very sweet and it didn`t need any sugar. That variety was grandad`s favourite, stockbridge arrow and timperley early will be a good week or two yet
