Yes, even in Glasgow, my Pluot has started flowering. There is no sign of insect life yet, so I will have to resort to hand pollination. No sign of any other plums flowering either.
Does anyone else have a pluot in flower now?
Wow..yours is early :o Mine has some flower buds on but nowhere near ready for opening up yet.
That is interesting as you are much further South and are having much warmer weather than us.
The blackthorn's out, but the cultivated plums are well away from flowering here.
My pluot is just started flowering now..in same time with rest of the plum trees.
And the weather has just turned cold as well.. ::) ..'perfect' timing...not.. >:(
May I ask where you got your pluots from? I can't even find a Spanish stockist and really don't think they've reached here. Would love to try them out.
I got mine from here.. http://www.thompson-morgan.com/fruit/fruit-trees/stone-fruit-trees/plum-pluot-flavour-king/dww3618TM
Sutton's seeds and DTBrown seeds sell pluots too..but different varieties.
My flavour King has now finished flowering just as my plums are starting. No bees for me but i have been busy with the brush, so hope that it has been successful. Have now covered it with fleece as frosts are back with a vengeance.
