Title: Pluot now flowering
Post by: realfood on March 13, 2012, 18:23:59
Yes, even in Glasgow, my Pluot has started flowering. There is no sign of insect life yet, so I will have to resort to hand pollination. No sign of any other plums flowering either.
Does anyone else have a pluot in flower now?

That is interesting as you are much further South and are having much warmer weather than us.

The blackthorn's out, but the cultivated plums are well away from flowering here.

May I ask where you got your pluots from? I can't even find a Spanish stockist and really don't think they've reached here. Would love to try them out.

My flavour King has now finished flowering just as my plums are starting. No bees for me but i have been busy with the brush, so hope that it has been successful. Have now covered it with fleece as frosts are back with a vengeance.
