Title: Pigeons and Doves
Post by: non-stick on March 02, 2012, 16:44:26
Is there a bird with a more tedious song than these pair. Currently from dawn till dusk I'm surrounded by "coocoo     coo". The birdsong equivalent of waterboarding!

Haven't heard one of those for years. Blooming pigeons though, when they are not eating my crops they're shouting down the chimney with their version of "WaWake-Up". We have a really diverse selection of birds visiting our garden but their beautiful birdsong is drowned out.

Living within half a mile from the southern runway @ Heathrow, the only morning chorus we get is 05.30 the final approach of the long hauls on final approach,or conversly the roar of Aircraft pinging down the runway every two minutes........so do me a favour ...enjoy the birds while you have them as a swap can be hastily arranged..... ;)

I once camped in Glen Rosa on Aran, and had a cuckoo going in the thorn tree right overhead from 3.30 in the morning. Nightmare, you wouldn't believe the volume!

I get my fair share of aircraft - the great big lumbering military chinooks that circle endlessly overhead on "essential" training at all hours of the day. Unlike you I live several miles away from their base - your point is...?
