I've often wondered if people actually like living in London?? or any big city really?
I know there are things some folks like such as big shops and theatres and stuff.
Just curious- no offence meant- please do not take any.

No offense taken!!
I love London in many ways but I long to be rid of this strange addiction!
There are many advantages in terms of access to work, play and other resources plus I feel I "fit" in here but the thought of spending the rest of my days here does fill me full of full of doom.
Just the other day I was having a meal on our "High Street" - during the course of the meal at least separate four police cars went by with sirens ablaze.  I only noticed them because someone else in the place kept pointing them out - I just don't hear them anymore.  There isn't time to list the things that annoy me about London but it's become part of me to a large extent.
I'd swap for a smallholding somewhere like this though

I wouldn't live anywhere else, except perhaps a vineyard in Tuscany ;D!  Spent 12 years in the wilderness (East Kent) due to children and schools and have been back for two years.  Despite never ending sirens and helicopters, I love it!

sorry !!!!!!! anybody thats goes prepared to steal and armed with a weapon doesnt expect anything in return if confronted with the law.
I dont agree with shooting if uneccessary, but if a taser can disable the person to get them arrested and banged up then so be it.
My nephew has chosen a career in the Police and is only 2 years along his chosen road and I would not wish him to be confronted with the same set of circumstances and somebody threatening to stab him if god forbid such a situation arose without knowing he can "under the current law" defend himself.

I live 18 miles from The Bloody Tower which is just close enough to enjoy Londons sights, and come home safe, albeit me and jude do sometimes look over our shoulder with a cursory glance if were travelling home in the dark.....aint stopped us going though.

yes, your Dream Portuguese spot does look inviting.

When I elected to go for Aircraft Engineer training I didn't specify that I didn't want to be out there in sub zero conditions for hours doing safety man on engine runs.      Or spending five years of my life inside hercules fuel tanks.    :o Cheers,    Tony.
