Have just been informed that the allotment soil is too light for swede, what can I add to make it more viable?
What type of soil do you have? In your area I would guess medium greensand loam?
If you keep them fed and watered you should be able to get acceptable swedes; not record breakers, but perfectly useable.
Chicken pellets or Growmore will help with the feed, and build up the organic matter in the soil over the years for moisture retention
Overhere they grow them on pure clay.i have tried it on my sandy soil it aint work.
Hows the weather over there Rudd. ??? :D
