New to the forum and thought I'd say hi :)
We've had our allotment for 4yrs and have loved every minute of it. Looking forward to the new season and getting to know you all :)
Hello Ananke and Welcome to A4A.
Hi Ananke!
I'm over in Embra but grew up in Glesca! Where's your lottie?
Oh and welcome aboard!
Thanks Jayb :)
Hiya and thanks Grawrc, our plot is in the East End (budhill).
I had to read Embra twice there lol.
What are you growing on your plot? (not right now but in general!)
Hi and welcome. Do tell us a bit more about your plot.
Oh that's a long list...
Potatoes incl some I grew from TPS last year
Carrots
Onions & Shallots
Garlic
Peas & Mangetout
Beans Broad, French & Borlotti and i'm doing a wee experiment with butterbeans this year.
Root Parsley
Celery
Corn
Lots of herbs
Sprouts, Cabbage x3, Caulies, swede
Toms, Cues, Melon, peppers, chili, aubergines (for the last time if these don't produce)
Beetroot
Salad leaves, spring onions
strawbs, blueberry, blackcurrant, gooseberry, two apple trees and a plum
I'm sure I'll remember more lol
Oh I have sweet potato and lemongrass rooting in front of the telly.
I've got two greenhouses, one 17ft x 7ft (currently with no roof after the winds) The smaller is about 8ft x7ft and is used more as a sitting/tea making place and there is a wee 6x4 shed.
I started out with just the half plot and then took on the half plot next to it which has had most of the topsoil removed, scratching my head over that one.
Hi and thanks Digeroo :)

What a lovely warm welcome from you all, thanks. I'm gonna like it here:)
I'll go look out some pics to post.
Gazza, that sounds like a fantastic trip, the kettle is always on and there is a spare fork kicking around for visitors :P
Looks like I need to open an account with an image hosting site first, in the meantime you can have a look at some of my plot pics here...

Think i've got it sorted.
We built the greenhouse using old wooden framed windows ...

Initially we slabbed the inside and grew stuff in pots...

Last year we lifted some slabs and planted directly into the borders, this way we only had to water every few days...

This is the wee greenhouse that was already built when we took on the half plot next to us...

Everything is needing repaired and freshened up with some paint..........there is always next month (been saying that for 4yrs lol)
Hi,
Love the greenhouse, its huge and I'm a little envious! - well done, you've done some great work there.
p.s. don't worry about the paint and what not, my wife reckons the 'rustic' look is 'in'...
;D
sheddie
It looks grand
That Sir, is a proper greenhouse for an allotment! Love it.
Thanks :)
I'm glad the rustic look is in ;D
yer,luv the GH very original.....what me dig when im on me hols...we,ll have to discuss that one over a pot of tea....but if its a trade you want I guess half hours muddying is OK(writes note to self) put in wellies...!!!
Oh and your fish box table will be 1 box lower each side as Ill be borrowing 2 of them to fill with Coalies, huss and Rays if I have my way after a spot of fishing along Loch Etive....although that is probably a jest as Jude will have other ideas for our time like mammal watching and hill climbing if she has her way.... ::)
Like ya blog as well, looks like your having fun !!!!!!!
GazNjude
We quite fancy trying fishing too. Don't know the first thing about it though. I did see a cheap rod in a local shop and thought it would be worth buying it and just drive until we see people fishing and ask lol.
Thats it then, you supply a pot O tea and Ill give you some background on sea angling if thats the type of fishing you had in mind.....be it boat or shore...I can certainly talk you through what kit you may wish to buy or borrow to go out and have a bit O fun..... :D
Itll be my 1st experience in Scotland anyway so dont have an inkling on what awaits me but there is a fella living in Dundee who says he was going to drive over to the loch as and when we arrive to give me a heads up.
Gazza
That sounds like a good deal to me, for some good advice i'll throw some cake in too :)
I was having a look through the recipe section, love the recipes and photos you've put up, well done. I'll be doing the meat loaf this week :)
awww, thats where i had my allotment. i have sooo many happy memories of there. i was up at the top of the hill where the wall to the graveyard is. the one with the concrete paths and all the....ahem "borrowed" security fencing all around it. ;)
are my wee plum and apple trees still gowing?
is harry still there? he helped build the greenhouse for me and had such a nice way of telling me where i was going wrong.
i'm sure you'll love it there, it was a real wee community where everyone helped one another. the big metal shed at the back of my old allotment was rolled on scaffolding poles from the right hand side of the plot to the left.....wish i'd had a video camera, it was a scream.
enjoy.xx
