Hmm..bit troublesome atmosphere there for me.. :-\ Perharps we just have to wait a year..I'm sure they will be on shopshelves then.. ;D
Unless some bugger has nicked some fruit and started spreading the seeds on 'black market'.. ;) ;D

They look very much like OSU Blue. Another similar looking cherry variety is Dancing with Smurfs bred by Tom Wagner. Grew well outdoors last summer.

I thought they looked like OSU blue too... grew some this year and saved the seeds.. is it a "stable" hybrid?...  ???

I don't know about the one in the Daily Mail. The OSU Blue I've been growing seems fairly stable, although I've read some people report not. Dancing with Smurfs, I believe was still in the process of being stabilised when Tom released it. Last year I had a little variation between plants and fruit, all fairly similar.

GrannyJ, it's Dancing with Smurfs, tasty too. I've added some to the tomato swap and I think a couple of other 'Blue' varieties.

Yes, OSU is more small salad to medium size.

Jay is absolutely right..and I believe there are few others blue variations creeping in with black names..inevitable really.

I  do smile sometimes,it`s been quite a few years now since I first started `educating` the good folk of my village and passing trade about `Black Rusian`and not ruddy `Moneymaker`

Is Black the new Red??
