having got the news 2 days ago that my dad aint coming out of the CCU at st peters its now up to me to keep a stiff upper lip and look out for my mum and sis who are staying with us till ....whatever happens....happens.
its hard to look for the right words here and sorry to babble on.......mums being good and now dad is on open order in the ward......its tuff to sit opposite him and not discuss it.....god weve talked about everything and nothing the last 2 days....and of course when his BP and heart numbers look good you always doubt whether the med staff have cut him off too early but after 10 years of cardiac help they have been brillaint.
anyway..........large sigh.........have a cutta tea and take mum to see him in a mo !!!!!!!!
Gazza
Really sorry to hear this news, Gazza. Stay strong for your family. You'll be in our thoughts and prayers. xxx
Thinking of you and the family.............big hugs x
You have our sympathy. It's always a very difficult time, and not much that anyone else says makes it much better.
At least you've had the chance to have had those final conversations, which is a comfort.
Sorry to hear about your trouble gazza. It seems that so many of us on here are having a tough time of late. Hugs to everyone
Don't know what to say really...always very difficult time. I'll send you some positive energy instead..
Take care..
Hi, Gazza, all you can do is carry on, I'm glad you have these moments with your dad. Look after you, too x

Spudbash :)
Take heart in the fact that you are able to have last conversations with him and whatever happens can happen for him with everyone around him. I know that is nt much consolation but.....
I had instances with both my parents last year with heart attacks and blood clots where both of them nearly went before i'd have had the chance to have any last conversations.
Tough times for you all but you will be stronger than you think and you will loook back on these last few days with a sense of having a chance of a dignififed closure.
Take care
Thinking of you gazza. My brother in law has just had open heart surgery, they can do marvellous things these days, we don't realise how important opur heart is to us :'( :'(
Sorry to hear your news,
Antipodes
My thoughts are with you and your family. Have recently been going through similar, my brother-in-law (88) was given hours to live on the 9th Jan. he didn't pass until 18th and the last week he never had food or fluids just morphine. At times like this I hate being 100 miles away from my big family. My sister and Ted would have been married 60 years in October.
I know you will have the strength to be there for your Dad and your Mum.
Gazza, so sorry to hear about your Dad, i am glad you are having a little time with him & are able to talk about anything!!.
My sister passed away 4 days before Christmas, very sudden a heart attack. I am still trying so hard to deal with it.
So make the most of every moment i am sure you are.
Sending love & hugs to you all.
Regards Mary = Rosebud.
Thankyou thankyou thankyou for the kind and considered words.
Ive just got in with mum and although dad had a dreadful morning we were advised to prepare ourselves, yet this afternoon he was eating short bread and sucking on Ribena I had taken in and yud think nothing had happened....therefore this "open order" phrase isnt as instant as I sumised....thank gord !!!!
Working as a volunteer at the hospital I do get to assist people in distress, but im no Chaplain and I did get to speak to our chaplaincy lady who was brilliant and will be on hand to provide words of solace if needed.
But the meds are still sticking with their prognosis, that said, I have just read your replies to my mum sat behind me and she thanks you all for encouraging words.... :-\
Gazza
Thinking of you and your mum. Agree with others, cherish these conversations. I lost my darling daddy 11 years ago this August, he had a heart attack at work, I was the first to the hospital, but he had already taken the leap from the mortal coil to the next. I am cyber sending you much love at this hardest of times.
All our prayers are with you Gazza.
God bless you all.
Thoughts and prayers from me too.
Very to hear this Gazza. I hope you find the strength from somewhere to support your Mum and sister.

Sorry to hear you're going through the wars, Gazza. Do remember to take care of yourself also at this time and as others have said, enjoy the conversations. Best wishes to you (and I did smile at the comment re your dad eating his shortbread! :))
