Title: Can I lay turf now?
Post by: reddyreddy on January 15, 2012, 13:15:43
Or is it too cold?

I'm in Surrey so pretty blinking mild and my garden is very, very wet (clay soil?) they have it for sale at the garden centre so I was thinking it would be ok now?

Yeah I think I would leave it for a month or so.  Grass is pretty dormant at the mo and probably wont root as well as it could..

In theory you can lay turf any time but in practice it's better to avoid hot and dry or cold and wet/ frosty. I'd wait till March if I were you.

Like early bedding... if the weather turns against you and it dies you buy some more...  :-X
