Title: Truvia = stevia

sweetener available in this country now. made from stevia. At last  ;D

That's good.  I've been using stevia powder for sweetening rhubarb and blackcurrants and even for reducing the sugar needed in chutneys and the odd cake so it'll be great to have some for my coffee too.

A few of us on here have been growing it but it's difficult to get enough to last so this is one solution, It's available through sainsbury and morrisons, it'll make my diabetic cake making lots easier  ;D

That's what I wanted to tell you Manics. I saw an advert in WW magazine for it & I thought I must let Manics know & then I had a senior moment & couldn't remember what I wanted to tell you ???. It does look interesting. I've been using Agave nectar on porridge & that is lovely, I only need a very small amount. Good luck with it.

Thanks, Gj..I've been using splenda so far but I'm going to see if our morrisons have it in tomorrow,  I'd prefer the bit more natural way  :)
I'm having more and more of those moments  ;D

Home brewers are getting quite excited about this too - always looking for sweetness that doesn't ferment.

We have it here in France, I use a sweetener + little bit of sugar product and with the Stevia variety, there is no aftertaste. It's quite expensive though.

Where do you get the seeds from to grow stevia? I'm interested in growing some this year  :)

I have never tried growing a stevia plant yet but I have been using the powder for a while and I quite like it, it is not sugar but as a replacement it's probably one of the better. With the stevia powder (http://www.purenature24.co.uk/shop/a3348/stevia-set-powder-15-g-250-tabs-dulce-100-ml.html) you really don't need to use too much as it is very sweet, so when you need for example a large tablespoon of sugar in a recipe you only need to use about a quarter of a teaspoon. But as it is a natural product I will probably continue using it
