Title: Garlic is sprouting
Post by: caroline7758 on January 08, 2012, 19:53:55
I haven't got much of my garlic harvest left now, but what I do have is starting to sprout. Is there anything I can do to stop this or to avoid it happening next year?

some of ours has done the same, we've peeled it and frozen it, easy to grate  :)
I think it's the mild weather

I havent grown much in the past but I find it looses taste and flavour so I just plant it when it sprouts like that..  even if its a bit late in the season you would still get something from it.

It will sprout if there is a hint of moisture in the air. It has to be kept in dry air.

All my Garlic is now well up apart from the  Spanish variety I came back from Spain with at Christmas which went in last week, I'm doing exactly what I did last year with planting out in October and I ended up with a good crop, :)
