Title: ARE YOU PLEASED WITH YOUR IPHONE?
Post by: Duke Ellington on January 08, 2012, 09:12:50
I am thinking of upgrading and was wondering what those of you that have one think of it. Is there another phone out there that compares to it?

I find the whole mobile phone world very confusing. ???

I just love my iPhone but it is a bit self-indulgent because it isn't cheap. Over the years since I first had one it has become my diary, my planner, my alarm clock, my music centre  .. and much more!! In fact I use it constantly, but relatively little as a phone!!  :o :o

I have had one for a couple of years and would hate to be without it. The screen icons make sense, and once you get used to just having to tap the screen to do things it's all very easy.

The only downside for me is that I now expect ALL screens to be tappable, and often show myself up doing it to something which doesn't have the capability!

My advice would be to pop into a shop and have a go, or ask a friend who has one...

I wasn't keen at first but now wouldn't be without it. Easy to use. Great for a quick photo (which is ridiculously easy to send) Supeer for going google searches while out shopping...it's quick. Face time calls to relatives at other side of country....alarm...music. Love it

Over priced and over hyped IMHO.  Plus you have to use iTunes which is the devil in software form!
I like my HTC Desire and OHs Desire HD is gorgeous.  There are so many great Android phones that have the edge in terms of tech over the iPhone - Samsung and HTC make some really really advanced phones.  There is only one iPhone on the market (althouigh you can buy old second hand ones) so there is far more choice if you don't go down that route.  There are cheaper phones like the HTC Wildfire - you can get this free on T Mobile from £15/month or you if you like audio there is the Sensation.  Or you can go to the top of the market and get a Samsung Galaxy S II - it's a bit bigger but really really nice.

Having said that a few friends do have the iPhone and are perfectly happy with them but in my office full of techy types there is one iPhone and four HTC/Sony andriod phones.  Our management team use iPhones as they have no idea of the other devices available and just wanted something shinny!!

Windows phones are just getting up to the mark but the interface is way different - I'd give it a few months but I expect Windows phone to be pretty d**n good - whether it will be popular is another matter.

I don't have one, but OH does.  Occasionally I use his when away from home.  No instructions, no training, but somehow it is so easy to use, that I 'get it' intuitively.  Don't know how they wrote the programs for it, but I would say it is very user-friendly (at least for me).

I recently went from about the most basic old nokia to a second hand iphone 4, so am still in the process of discovering all it can do. If you are the sort of person that uses your computer a lot I think the iphone will be great for you, because that is basically what you are carrying round with you, plus it makes phone calls! One main difference I have found it the time you have to recharge the blooming things, I only had to plug my old one in once a week, but this iphone needs doing most nights depending on how much I've played with it during the day.

I bought my phone from a friend who was upgrading to a 4s, so use a Giffgaff sim card which works on the O2 network, and I pay £10 a month for 250 mins, and unlimited texts and internet, you can get bigger 'goodybags' with more minutes if you need to, but this is by far the cheapest way to access this sort of package. The 4s is pretty much the same as the iphone 4 except you get 'siri', a voice activated question answering thingy. My son loves his but in most cases it just answers you by giving you a list of websites you can find your answer on, so not quite as good as its cracked up top be!
I am disappointed in the lack of decent allotmenteering type apps as well, the RHS one is pants...... :-\
