They look - shell and bean and then cooked bean - very much like borlotti.
But haven't seen any beans called bird egg beans before.
We bought some kentucky wonder bean plants at Saddad's plant sale a couple of years ago, the beans looked very like this :)
Good name that, the sort of name you would associate with a cow and a giant :)
