Newish to growing peppers, i beleive some need starting a bit early, when should i sow the following
Jalepeno

cayenne
calif wonder
most will end up in a cold greenhouse
Too early for me... :-X
To cold to put feet out of bed yet wait a bit longer you will catch up ;)
I grow numbers 1,4 & 5 and it will be around ten weeks before I sow my seed as seen here;

Dave, the ones chilliheadz like to start really early tend to be the slower growing species like chinense (scotch bonnets, habaneros and so forth), pubescens (rocotos) and the other less domesticated species and wild varieties (I'll be starting some of these in the next week or so). Everything on your list belongs to the species Capsicum annum which is the helpfully fast growing one and hence you have no need to worry about starting them yet. I'd probably give them until late Feb/early March depending upon the way the winter plays out.
Thanks Tai, thats what i was looking for, late feb it will be then. Its a bit cheaper on the heatin as well
