The shortest day is tomorrow for most of the UK, albeit only by one second shorter than today. The solstice occurs at 5:30am on the 22nd in London.
And then ... the days at last start to get lighter. Less than 8 hours daylight here in Harrow today, over 9 hours by the end of January, and nearly 11 hours by the end of February.
So our poor hens, at present putting themselves to bed by 4pm, will have a bit more daylight. And with luck the hens'll start to lay again, the cockerel will recover his libido, and we can incubate some eggs for the next stage of "the poultry project"!
Fair lifts the spirits, it does. :)
Hurrah, makes me want to celebrate and do something Pagan ;D ;D ;D

I said the same to Mrs Nig earlier today and was told we are not taking our clothes off down at the allotments, under any circumstances.
So that's me told. :'(
You could always offer a sacrifice instead. A bit of gore usually keeps the gods happy.
I know of some bluddy rabbits that could do with a bit of sacrificing.... :-X
