Title: Low-down on Spring Greens wanted, please
Post by: Lishka on December 07, 2011, 16:29:20
So....what are they and which seeds do I buy?

Now, I've loved Spring Greens for years and buy big bunches at the market or bags (always reduced price at the S'market cos obv. few other people round here like them :o ) but I'd like to grow my own. All I can think is that they're a brassica(obv), perhaps a sort of non-hearting cabbage?) but don't know any more ???

So, while I get busy in the kitchen right now, shredding some and sauteing it in a wok in olive oil with a sliced onion and fresh ginger and sizzling some balsamic vinegar over it at the end, please could someone tell me what I've eaten, please?

Many thanks

Hiya, Lish  ;D
We use greyhound cabbage as a spring cabbage, sowed in august/september, planted out when a decent size (club root probs). quite close then take every other one as spring cabbage then let the rest heart up. works for us  ;D

You're spot on Manicscousers, but I carry on doing it throughout the year.
Works for me!!

Thank you! So Greyhound it is, then. I look forward to growing that next year, and the Aug/Sept sowing time is handy 8)

Hello Tim! Spot-on about the 'seaweed'!
