I know some of you are probably bored with me banging on about local shows, but I feel I have to keep a thread going on them. I started showing in 2009 and won a Novice Cup and that was way beyond my expectations.
The culmination of 2011 brought this:

but more important was the label inside:

This thread is not about me and what I won but how honoured I felt to carry something that was first awarded in 1949. The VPA no longer exists in it's old form and the cups, so I am told, were put into a hat and drawn by local village societies.
It's now wintertime, lots of time to look up your local horticultural village/town/city societies and put your names down for a schedule and JUST HAVE A GO next year.
As I've said before, I picked up so much helpful advice from A4A over the year, so a thank you to you folks too!
Ninnyscrops
Nice one Ninny. ;D
Well done Ninns......vey proud of you :)
Well done Ninny, that's brilliant!
There used to be a show at our allotments years ago, but not for at least the past 15 years. Next year we are starting one again, thanks to a suggestion from a new committee member. It will be in September and I'm sure I will be asking for advice many times before then.
Well done! :)
I steward at a local, long running horticultural society show where I'm always pleased to be see newcomers or novices taking part and often winning prizes.
As you rightly say just have a go as it's great fun.
