Title: raspberries
Post by: queenbee on November 26, 2011, 23:18:34
Just picked five raspberries today from my bushes, I can't believe it. I live in the north of England and I have never in over 20 years of growing early varieties seen this. Also my winter flowering Jasmine is in flower it is in the conservatory and usually flowers from late February to late march. What have you seen that is unusual in your garden?

The raspberries are still fruiting on the allotment near us.

I have noticed that the oriental leafs that I planted have done much better than most years.

A plot neighbour was picking bunches of juicy, sweet outdoor grapes yesterday, and I've still got cornflowers flowering.

My oriental poppies have been throwing up the odd flower! These were cut back after flowering in July.
Calendulas still flowering!
A couple of small roses on my climbing rose! Also pruned back in the summer.

Many of my strawberries are flowering - also an ornamental spring shrub (forgotten its name) is in full flower at the moment. I'm having to dig up volunteer potatoes - tall bright green haulm already.

Also picked a handful of rasps yesterday, plus still more tomatoes from outside. Nasturtiums, marigolds, tender herbs still looking good.

Had a few raspberries myself a couple of days ago, there might be more to pick today... also picked cucumbers adn some peppers that have formed since I stripped the plants a few weeks ago... not big, but I bet they'll pack some flavour.... there's more chillis to pick coming through too....

Yup - still picking raspberries here in Lincolnshire. Mind you, have snacked on most of them while walking back to the freezer...
