Title: how much to charge for our pavilion?
Post by: Squash64 on November 25, 2011, 15:21:14
I have been contacted by a local plant society who would like to use our pavilion for their meetings.  They would need it for a couple of hours in the evening, every two months.

They are willing to pay, but I don't know how much to charge.  We are not looking to make a profit, just to cover cost of electricity.  (heaters, kettle, lights)

Any ideas?

£10-£15 would sound fair to me...per meeting....would that cover your costs..and maybe buy a bit of coffee or something for yourselves?

You know.I'd even suggest £20 per meeting and it'd still be a bargain. Apart from the running costs I presume that someone from your lotties would need to be there before the meetings + when the meeting's finished to ensure that everywhere's opened up/ locked up afterwards, including the gates to the lotties themselves?

£20 a meeting sounds fair to me, this would give you just over£100 a year profit after expences, wich could be handed back to  the plotters in the form of a xmas party for the plotters kids

great idea,Betty you are very lucky to have such a facility, may as well make a few quid out of it,as lishka said,it will cost one of you a certain amount of time sorting it out each meeting

Thanks for the replies.

The woman who phoned is coming to see us on Sunday so I will suggest £20 to her.  (I might ask her what she was paying at the previous place first)

I'm not sure what we will do about letting them in and locking up afterwards.  The perfect solution would be if one of our plot holders would volunteer.

Betty, have a look at your site insurance, it could be that if you left it to a member of the plant soc. to close it all up afterwards - and they forgot, there might be insurance implications if you had a break-in, so there would have to be a commitment from a lotty member I think, and that should be reflected in the price.

£20 = £10 p.h. and, with the cost of heating, leccy they'll use etc. I really do think they'll have a bargain. 8)

Unless you want to to join the group Betty you might end up having to turn out with Grandad in the micra to lock up!
not so bad in summer but in winter ??? or is there anyone who lives really close and is reliable? how does it work now for locking up?
Of course with Grandad at your side anything is possible ;) ;)

Grandad likes early nights Pumpkin, and I can't see well enough to drive in the dark!

One of our committee members lives opposite the allotments, I'll have a word with her and see what she thinks.  As you know, the allotments are set inside a park so we don't have any street lights and it can be a bit creepy in the dark.

We'll have to think about this.
