I asked the same Question to Aquiligia.

Same as you I bought A 5 Kilo Sack of Chitting Potatoes
From the Local Supermarket here in Holland and Thought Oh have a go at Planting,Picking out the Best.

Same with Shallots  Clean No Damage and good Roots.
I thought I´d Plant these as well.

But Ive received good advise over deseases

I can order from a Garden Centre here no Problem so is it Worth the Risk and Does it Really work!!

Wish I could say 'of course'.
When you say 'chitting potatoes', I assume you mean that they were sprouting in the sack?
The chances are that all will be well. I've done it!
If they were much cheaper than certified 'seed', then that's good news!. If the shallots are rooting, they're not going to be much good as 'eaters' anyway?

I did give my usual answer of only using certified seed on another thread you started - use certified seed, especially in the Netherlands with its current disease problems

Hi Mike, Here in the Netherlands, at least here in the Bollenstreek, we were NOT ALLOWED to grow potatoes for a long time.
For fear of infecting the bulbs with potatoes- diseases.
Since a few years we grow potatoes again.
I must say I never have had any disease,    she said.......
Put potatoes in late ( ground is warm), end of April, early May, if water needed and they do in our sandy soil, I water under the leaves, and get the maincrop out as early as possible.
But we all are most careful with ROTATION.
3, 4 or 6 year rotation we use here.
But we have very big yields, every year.

Plan on putting them in when the Order arrives from Bakker-Hillegom around Mid March ??? I think that should be OK.

This will depend naturally on the Chitting Process. Nature is a funny Thing ::)

The worst diseases are ring rot and brown rot these reduce yields by 50% - and if you're a farmer that is a huge amount - it also persists in the soil for many years
