Title: Check your stored onions
Post by: happy larry on November 16, 2011, 20:47:07
Just a bit of advice for anyone with stored onions,i went to get an onion from the shed tonight and was surprised by finding the new root growth almost an inch long. Now these onions spent over a month on my patio table covered with a fishing umberella that allowed wind and sun to ripen them, then i stored them in a hessian sack.Must be down to the warm weather,go check yours folks.

Hessian is bad for onions.. use a potato pocket - the type like matted netting..

Mine go from the greenhouse to the stay in the shed once they are dry and in these bags they keep very well.

Mine are strung up on the roof of the chicken run (which has a solid roof) and mesh wire sides. So dry but airy.

Heavens knows but the girls don't Like going in it but prefer the garden!!
