When you receive a PM, do you still get an e-mail notification if you have the option selected in your preferences? I'm wondering if it's just me as I'm not getting e-mail notification since the upgrade. Can I send you a PM to test it? Thanks.
send me one if you like ;D
Sent.
Yes I got the mail but strangely in my spam emails.
I've been receiving them in my usual email.
Unwashed you have a PM.
Realised I have one in spam from another member too.
This is not what normally happens so do you know the reason for this please?

Ah, my server is deleting them. I'll have to have a look why. Thanks Betula.
Sorry, but I've turned off my spam filtering and I'm still not getting e-mails from A4A. I'm wondering if it has something to do with the server move? Something like stale Domain Keys or Sender Policy Framework registration? I know very little about this so I could be completely wrong, but I wondered if anyone else wasn't getting PM notifications.
Something has changed Simon as mine were coming in nomally before, not chucked into spam.
It's being investigated at the moment. It appears to only be affecting some members, we're trying to identify why. Dan has been made aware.
It has happened to some of the mods too, and means we may not respond to reported posts as quickly so please be aware.
Thanks Ceres, Pumpkinlover.
Betula, is there any indication in the mail why it got caught by the spam filter? Does the filter add some kind of annotation to say why it scored as spam, such like it didn't originate from the declared domain or something like that? You might need to expand the headers to see.
It says suspected spam emails will go into spam .
Other than that Simon nothing like you mentioned but I am not great with the computer so cold you explain what you mean by expand the headers please?
When you look at the e-mail with Firebird or Outlook or whatever e-mail tool you use it typically shows you a couple of headers - from, subject, to, sender - that kind of thing. But the mail message can contain quite a long list of other mostly uninteresting headers like message-id, return-path, envelope-to. It depends on how the mail got tagged as spam, but if it was done on your mail server rather than by the mail tool itself the spam filter may have written some headers into the mail to say why it was catagorized as spam, and to see all the headers you have to do something like View->Headers->All or some such, and then scroll through the list and see if anything looks interesting, like X-spam-something-something.
All the e-mails arrived today! Thanks for your time and effort in sorting the problem Dan and the Mods, as always, gratefully appreciated.
Hi,
These things happen occasionally, thanks to all who helped resolve the issue :)
Dan
Just a daft question...if you come onto the website you are told that you have a new PM, why does it matter if you get an email notification?
???

It's sometimes helpful to know I've had a PM as soon as it's been sent rather than when I happen to visit A4A.

I think I knew that really, but I am one of the sad people who has A4A on top of my favourites list and look here first! Even before emails...
