Title: Wurzel Mangel Fodder Beet Seed Wanted
Post by: Viks on February 09, 2005, 17:59:31
I am trying to get hold of a small quanitity of Wurzel / Mangel / Fodder Beet seed without buying an 1 acre pack.
Does anyone have any and want to swap or want to split a big pack or know anywhere you can buy smaller quanitities from??

Thanks
Viks

Hello Viks

You can get fodder beet seeds from Tuckers. 400 seeds are 90p. I don't know how far 400 seeds go, but I bet it's not an acre.

Their website is www.edwintucker.com/Seeds/seeds%20index.htm

or phone for a catalogue on 01364 652233.

Hope this helps.

Thanks very much.
I will get them ordered tonight. I am quite excited about the garden this year.

What use is a mangel, other than as a cattle feed?
HDRA Heritage Seed Library have sent me a packet of Mangel Yellow Intermediate seed which I did not order. The puzzle is that is not listed in their catalogue and a search on their website came back blank. Is it like a turnip?

THink it is a beetroot thingy?

Alot - did you tick the lucky dip box? I have got seeds this year and last that were not listed in the hsl catalogue.

Thanks Multiveg, you're right.

It is in the catalogue under beetroot and not turnip. " This striking yellow beet is a French heirloom from the 1800s and can grow quite large." Sounds okay to me.
