Title: fenugreek
Post by: caroline7758 on October 29, 2011, 15:41:34
I've used fenugreek as a green manure and it's about 8" tall now. Should I cut it and dig it in or will it die back when we get a frost?

I have read that it is better to cut it back before it flowers.  Otherwise the nitrogen it fixes will be used up when it flowers. Not sure if fenugreek will flower now (every thing has been silly this year and one can never tell).

I have mustard growing, some has seeded, and i will be chopping it down shortly.  I am growing potatoes on that patch next year so i will leave it on the ground and let it rot in over winter.

So I don't think it will make much difference now whether you chop it down or leave it.
