Hi everyone (waves from the thistle patch aka my allotment) ! Have been lurking for a while and thought it time to jump in. These forums look great so thanks to whoever set them up.
This is my 6th year of having an allotment but intend this year to be my best ever. But I'm always full of hope at this time of year as the weather, weeds, bugs and beasties have yet to put in an appearance ;D My plot is in South Bucks in a lovely rural setting and the wildlife is a joy too (well, most of the wildlife ;)).
Anyway, looking forward to being part of your community. :)
Hi Thistle, nice to know your out there, looking at your thread you have some knowledge that we can all tap in to, can you place some pics on the page, so we can all see your site and please try and tell us your likes and dislike about your lottiesite in your area.
hope to hear from you agaain

Hi Thistle and welcome!
Your plot sounds gorgeous. You'll have to tell us what you grow and how it goes. And with your experience sure you'll be tapped for tips!
Have a good season and look forward to having you around!

;D Welcome Thistle ;D
Hello, Thistle - like your name and the original - tho not in the lottie. Do you have Scottish roots or is it that you just "like" thistles?
Hello Thistle and welcome to A4A. I was just a lurker too, until recently. As you already know they're a lovely bunch. Let us know how your plot is doing. I'll look forward to hearing from you again.
Hello Thistle and welcome :)

Hi Thistle!Â

Thanks for all your welcomes folks !
Though not so sure about having lots of experience, except maybe of what not to do ::) Don't, for example, rotovate a brand new plot that has creeping thistle on it unless you want to be battling it 6 years later.... My username came to mind as unfortunately thistles are what I grow best (not because of any scottish connections I'm afraid). They are without doubt the biggest dislike of my plot. Though recently I did read that you can eat the roots. Apparently you cook them like asparagus so I could be self-sufficient in thistle. Do you think it worth contacting M&S to sell as a gourmet food ? ;) 8)
As to pics, I shall see what I can do. And it's looking reasonably ship-shape at the moment as it's mostly covered in carpet, black plastic and manure. ;D
Cheers, thistle.
Have fun Thistle, you'll get to know some lovely (and interesting) people, and believe me the site becomes as addictive as the gardening!
Loz ;D
