Title: Help.... What is this plant in my lottie?
Post by: gavinjconway on October 17, 2011, 15:46:52
Hi All - I have now taken over my allotment and been given both halves to make a full lottie.

I have a hedge looking bunch of small trees/shrubs growing at the side... I dont know what they are and wonder if they are a fruit tree of sorts.. Had some cutting down in the past as a lot of stumps and regrowth.

Can anyone help?

Googled dogwood and one of the species pics look like it...

Is it used for anything on a plot other than a dividing hedge? I can't find a use for it..

Purely ornamental, flowers in summer, coloured bark in the winter.

Get yourself a big grubbing axe then ;D It's a bugger to get rid of. But on the positive side there is always some mug gardener who will buy a potted plant cheap for their hedge. Pot some up and sell it to fund your seed acquisition disorder  (SAD). You might not have the illness yet but give it time ;D

You could always chop it down and use the 'cuttings' as pea sticks..just remember to let then dry out first or you do end up with tons 'sale' material.. :-X
