Was in Toronto recently and heard that the Royal York Hotel where The Queen stays when she visits, also keeps productive bee hives up on their rooftop. A friend and I took a hankering to see these hives though we were not staying at that hotel so we called up Public Relations and my friend with her German accent wangled us a visit. The hives produced 700 lbs this year despite being on top of a high rise amidst a city of high rise buildings
I have some dandy photos...but can't get them to work on here! hmmmmmmm ???
I'll try to put them on my gallery next instead.
I was reading about the hives they have on the roof of Fortnum&Mason London, they put up the hives 2008.They do let visitors up to see by appointment.I don't know if the queen shops there ;D
What an interesting vist that must have been...............

Yes it was. Too bad the Queen wasn't there. Only the queen bee.

Yes and it was especially kind of the hotel woman to take us up there because it was an elevator ride up 11 floors then a walk up 5 flights of stairs and her in her sky-scraper heels ;D
